Stripe stops trying after 4 retries. We don't.

Recoup recovers the failed subscription payments Stripe leaves behind — smart retries timed to the decline reason, plus polite emails from your own domain that actually get cards updated. Flat $49/mo. If we don't recover at least our fee in a month, that month is free.

See what failed payments cost you ↓

You're losing ~9% of your revenue to payments that just… fail.

Expired cards. Insufficient funds. Bank hiccups. Roughly 9% of subscription revenue dies to involuntary churn — customers who never meant to leave.

Stripe's Smart Retries recover only 25–40% of it. They retry silently, on a generic schedule, and never contact your customer. And for expired cards — a quarter or more of all failures — retrying is mathematically pointless. The card is dead. Someone has to ask the customer for a new one.

At $10k MRR, that's roughly $900/month failing and $500–600/month walking out the door after Stripe gives up.

Set it up during your coffee break. Seriously.

2

We handle every failed payment

Each decline is classified by its actual reason and gets its own recovery plan: retries timed to when money is likely there, or a card-update email when retrying is pointless.

Watch the number go up

One dashboard, one hero number: dollars recovered this month vs. our fee. You'll know exactly what we're worth every single week.

Every decline is different. Stripe treats them all the same.

Decline reasonWhat Stripe doesWhat Recoup does
Insufficient fundsRetries on a generic scheduleRetries near typical paydays (1st, 15th, Fridays) when money is actually there
Expired cardRetries anyway — pointlessSkips retries, sends a card-update email from your domain immediately
Do not honor / hard declineRetries anywayNo futile retries that annoy banks — straight to customer outreach
Card updated by customerWaits for the next scheduled retry — if any remainCharges immediately, subscription saved, you get the credit

The emails come from your domain, in your voice, written by us to convert. Your customer clicks one secure link, updates their card, done. Most never know Stripe was involved.

What are failed payments costing you?

You're leaving ~$387/month on the table.

  • ~$900/mo of your payments fail (industry avg 9%)
  • Stripe's retries recover about $288 of it — then give up
  • A proper dunning layer recovers 70–85%: $387/mo more, ~$4,644/year
  • That's 7.9× the $49 Recoup fee.

Assumptions

~9% of subscription revenue is affected by involuntary payment failure (industry estimates from subscription-billing providers; adjust the slider to your own rate). Stripe Smart Retries recovery of 25–40% and dunning-layer recovery of 70–85% are published industry ranges; we use the midpoints (32% and 75%). Your actual numbers depend on your customer base, card mix, and geography.

Questions, answered.

Do you store card numbers?

No. Never. Cards stay in Stripe. We connect via Stripe Connect OAuth with the minimum scopes needed to retry invoices and read failure events.

Will my customers get spammed?

A maximum of 4 emails, spread over the recovery window, only to customers whose payment actually failed — and they stop the moment the payment succeeds. These emails save their subscription; customers overwhelmingly prefer a heads-up over silently losing access.

What if I already have Stripe Smart Retries on?

Keep them on. We coordinate around Stripe's retries and add everything Stripe doesn't do: reason-aware scheduling, customer emails, and card-update pages. Recovery attributed to Stripe stays Stripe's; we only count what we recover.

How is this different from Churnkey or Churn Buster?

Those are ~$250/mo tools built for companies 10× your size. Recoup does the recovery core — retries + dunning + card updates — at $49 flat, with a 15-minute setup and no sales call.

What do I need to do after setup?

Nothing. That's the product.

Paddle? Chargebee?

Stripe only for now. Tell us what you're on — demand decides the roadmap.
